Who is responsible

The controller is the operator of kadet-hub: tbd (name), privacy@kadet-hub.org. The postal address is given in the imprint.

What happens when you visit

kadet-hub.org is a static site served by GitHub Pages, operated by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, GitHub receives your IP address and the usual request data and, according to GitHub, logs the IP address for security purposes. kadet-hub has no access to these logs. GitHub transfers data to the United States on the basis of its certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the EU standard contractual clauses; see GitHub’s privacy statement. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The site loads no scripts, styles, fonts or images from other origins and sets no cookies.

Visitor counting

Each page view is counted with GoatCounter, which kadet-hub runs itself at https://stats.kadet-hub.org on a server rented from netcup GmbH, Germany. A script served from kadet-hub.org (count.js) sends the page’s path and title, the referring page and your screen width there; the server also receives your IP address and browser’s user agent with the request. It derives an approximate location from the IP address and stores neither the IP address, the full user agent nor any tracker ID. The script sets no cookies. It reads the key skipgc from your browser’s localStorage, which is only set when someone opts out of being counted on this site. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in knowing which pages are used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Theme setting

If you use the light or dark toggle, your choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key theme, so the site keeps it on your next visit. Nothing is written before you use the toggle, and the value never leaves your browser. You can delete it at any time in your browser’s site data. This storage is strictly necessary for a function you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

Data shown in the catalog

The catalog shows the GitHub login of each generator’s owners and the star count of its source repository, taken from the public GitHub API when the site is built. Owners submit their GitHub user ID when they register a generator; their login is shown to attribute the generator to them.

Links to GitHub, the Kapitan documentation and generator repositories lead to sites with their own privacy notices. Following a link to GitHub, for example to report an issue, is subject to GitHub’s terms and privacy statement.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77), for example the authority of your place of residence. For data that GitHub processes as host, contact GitHub as well.
